Don’t tell your daughter that when a boy is mean or rude to her it’s because he has a crush on her. Don’t teach her that abuse is a sign of love.

My mom always taught me yell or fight back. Boys would be mean and I would yell back. I would get my ass pinched and I would smack them as hard as I could.

Who alway got in trouble? Me.

They would call my mother and she always came in and lectures my teachers and threatened to sue for making her miss work and treating me poorly.

She always taught my brothers to respect women. The only fights my brothers ever got in was defending women from someone else.

The school tried to call my father once instead of my mother on us. He came in in his full preacher outfit (being a preacher and all) and gave them an entire sermon on what would Jesus day of he was called in. They decided dealing with my mom was better.

I think my favorite story of this is when some kid snapped my bra and I turned around, didn’t even think about it, and punched that little motherfucker right in the nose.

So naturally, I end up in the principal’s office, refusing to apologize.

“He shouldn’t have put his hands on me and I wouldn’t have hit him!” That’s the only thing I was saying.

These people had the unfortunate luck of catching my dad at home, instead of my mom. So he comes fucking sauntering in there, like he’s Clint fucking Eastwood in some western movie and looks at me.

“Melissa, did you punch him?”

“Yes.” I said.

“Why?”

“Because he snapped my bra strap.”

And he turns his squinty eyed glare to the principal and says, “You’re telling me my daughter is in trouble because that squirrely looking kid put his hands on her and she chose to defend herself? That’s what you are saying to me.”

“Well, sir-” The man kind of stuttered because my dad is kind of intimidating in the quiet sort of way that kind of whispers in the back of your mind that this person could be dangerous. “Melissa did make it physical.”

“No. That kid put his hands on my daughter. Are you saying my daughter cannot defend herself when some boy decides to put hands on her? Is that what you are teaching my girl?”

I didn’t get suspended that day.

get fucking vaccinated

This is the best infographic yet

I honestly didn’t read this all bc I believe in vaccines. But gonna go ahead and share this.

This is beautiful.

You should vaccinate your children, I agree, but some people’s bodies cannot deal with the vaccine like they should. For instance, I have an immunodeficiency disease, and before it was diagnosed I received the H1N1 vaccine and caught the actual virus. I now am on medication which help the effects of my condition but make my susceptibility to viruses and bacteria extremely high. Every cut, scratch, or other hole in my dermis gets infected because my immune system cannot defend itself.

So please, if you can, get your children immunized. Do not force those of us who cannot to deal with this.

I read that you have fibromyalgia. My mum suffers from this and with many other ailments. I was wondering what you have found to be most effective?

forevrdreamingofbetterthings:

not too much honestly… the most recent thing that i’m trying is matcha while i wait until the pain clinic finally takes me on. matcha is actually supposed to be very good for fibro patients bc its caffeine is slow release and a lot easier and healthier on the body. it also increases your ability to process sugar and increases your metabolism. and i’ve found research suggesting it’s quiet helpful for fibro patients. honestly, i’d give it a try.

what does she take and how is it helping?

sorry i’d write more but i’m feeling really awful atm. i’m keeping things brief for now. but keep at me and you’ll probably get something good from me eventually haha. xoxo

She’s not taking anything currently. She has tried Lyrica and neurontin but they made very loopy. Recently she tried suppliments but they bothered her stomach so she had to stop before seeing any results.

okay so the only Harry Potter i accept is Indian Harry Potter but imagine this:

Biracial Harry. James is South Indian and Lily is white. As Harry is practically identical to James, he still looks very Indian.

The Dursleys are a white family and Harry is the one brown child.

So can you imagine, on top of the abuse and neglect he experiences in the Dursley household, tiny baby Harry also has to deal with people telling him “the Dursleys must be so nice to take you in” and “you know they’re not your REAL family” and “did your parents not want you?”

So growing up, Harry doesn’t know whether or not he could actually feel bitter towards the Dursleys because, well, they took someone like him in.

#yes basically this is it this is the canon #look at this post #look at it with your eyes #harry being brown but not knowing what he is for a long time bc the dursleys dont speak of his parents #so he just knows he’s Other and its a while before he even knows his dad is desi #and to harry indian is Bad because vernon says it in a Bad Tone of Voice #but like? the indian population is p large in britian so he sees others who look like him #and he wonders abt them and their culture because he knows nothing about it #and he just. feels really isolated and drifting #and then harry has to deal with internalized racism on top of his guilt complex and hero complex and ptsd and trauma and etc etc etc#but yeah like indian harry who isnt allowed to sit in on family portraits because he ruins their suburban pasty aesthetic #harry who meets the patil twins and feels really inferior bc he doesnt know anything about the culture at all and they know everything #parvati mentioning some cultural traditions to him so he knows at least something #harry getting that album of his parents lives from hagrid and half of it is the potters in traditional indian clothes #harry learning about who he is both as a wizard and an indian!! #harry still standing out among the pale red headed weasleys which sucks but at least he has poc hermione to commiserate with #speaking of which hermione taking on race issues and educating harry about all the internalized racism and microaggressions he grew up with #listen. #desi harry potter. #its everything. (x)

I have seen several racebent headcanons (though technically, there is nothing in the books to say Harry is white), but this is brilliant.

i don’t know if straight people are fully aware of this, but literally the only, the only, function of including “allies” is to provide a cover for those LGBTQ+ people who are not out. that is it. that the purpose of “allies.” if you see “allies included!” or anything like that, the message is inclusion of those who, for whatever reason, cannot be out. it is not for straight people.

I legitimately did not know this.
